今週はSonuゼミのイヴェントが続く週に。火水とスペインはマドリッドからのお客さまのお話。ここで描写できないくらいユニークな方。月曜はWilliam Jamesとjokeというお話で、火曜は次のようなお話：

Madness and Rules: A Case for Wittgenstein

I will talk about a book that I’m finishing: Wittgenstein and His Relation with Jokes. In this book 1) I describe Wittgenstein’s odd sense of humour and I connect it with his conception of philosophy. This part is more biographical, and includes the reconstruction of some absurd situations. 2) I analyze what Wittgenstein said about comedy and tragedy, jokes and humour. This part includes references to Cervantes, Stern, Tolstoy, the Nazis, detective stories, Wodehouse, musicals, slapsticks and Tom mix’s westerns… but also to Freud. 3) I claim that Wittgenstein’s later ideas on rules and language-games are better understood if we think of different types of jokes. I explain the diverse types of what Wittgenstein called “gramatical jokes” (from the logical ones to the performative ones), but I also indicate the relevance of some type of humours in order to illuminate the background of linguistic games (using examples from sports and social acts). Wittgenstein one said that a serious and philosophical work could be written that would consist entirely of jokes. His philosophical work was serious and included some jokes. However he was not a good joker, and his perception of social life was as limited as his sense of humour. I get some inspiration from some readings of Wittgenstein, for example, the ones by Shrafstein, Cavell, Eagleton, Cioffi, or Louis A. Saas’s book on Wittgenstein and Schizophrenic mind, but I also take in consideration ideas from Shopenhauer, Bergson, Freud, Berger, Douglas, or Critchley, from film studies, psychiatry, sociology and psychology of laughter.

とても面白かった。その後、Psychoanalysis Unitの教室でSonuさんが用意したwineとpizzaで懇親会。speakerのRamón del Castilloさんとは、laughter and repetitionなどという話で盛り上がる。この方、まさに全身ギャグという感じのお話ぶりだが、その実知性は鋭利である。その後はCharlotte Streetの行きつけのお店で午前2時過ぎまでwine party。ギリシャから来てここで修士をやりいまPhDをやっているCharisがmelancholiaをテーマにしていて、なんとKarl Abrahamも射程に入っているとのこと。これも大いに話が合い盛り上がる。早速本を貸したりする。彼女、ギリシャ語で詩集を出版したばかりだそうで、非常に知的だ。最近Sonuゼミに参加した方。

赤の書 ―The“Red Book"

こんな高価なものを恐縮するが、自宅で眺めるだけですごい迫力。Jungには正直なところ偏見があるが、２０世紀の心理学の歴史で無視すると偏頗な歴史記述になるのは自明。それを踏まえての某プロジェクトもあるのだが。これはしかしすごい本である。

今日の木曜日はジュリエット・ミッチェル・ゼミでDeeがプレゼン。お題は、Freudの'The Psychogenesis of a Case of Homosexuality in a Woman' (1920)。しかしフロイトを生物学的本質主義者とかいう評価って、いったいなにを読んでいたのだろうか？ということを痛感する論文。
