今日は１０：００前からoffice。例のMelanie Klein in Berlinの続き。この本に関するコメントは読了してから。今日も重要な発見がある。そろそろアーカイヴにアタックする頃だ。しかしBLのアーカイヴを読むための予約の仕方がちょっと変わった模様。質問のメールを出してみる。ここ数年Institute of Psychoanalysisのアーカイヴを読んでいたので、BLでのやり方を恥ずかしながら忘れたのかもしれない。

ソウルからメール。このエントリーの標題のものが届く。依頼されて向こうで講演をし、これも依頼されて論文を寄稿したのだが、きちんと投稿論文と同じく、厳しく査読されている。なんだか気持ちが良い。さて、その査読の結果だが、５人のレフリーがいて、一人が２０点満点で採点している。さて結果は：A (16); B (16); C (16); D (18); E (14) ということで平均点が１００点満点で８０点。なかなか厳しい。まあ、合格点なのだろうが。ただ実際の修正は微細。遠慮がやはりあるのだろうか。ついでに２つとも講評も引用しようか：

This essay reflects on Lawrence’s struggle for an alternative to the modern political system. In doing so, it focuses on the writer’s idea of “wholeness,” and offers a comparative view on Marxism. Generally the essay reads well, and provides some interesting insights into the democratic precincts such as community and individuality. Especially the critical take on Karatani’s theory is informative and insightful. There are some minor corrections and couple of unclear sentences.

This is a highly intelligent and theoretical paper. The argument is intriguing especially in that the contradictions(and paradoxes) of Lawrence's language in between the singular and the universal, or individual and community, can be revolutionary and very critical of the capitalist and national discourses. The problem is, however, that this paper introduces too many difficult terms to understand clearly the argument. Especially on the page 14, some concepts like 'equivalence' or 'comparativist imagination' need to be more illustrated. And in the abstract, a sentence which lasts from line 10-16 should be shorter and clearer.

ついでにネイティヴチェックもしてくれることを期待したのだが、それはなかった。だがちょっと自慢すると最近あまりネイティヴが見ても赤が入らない。この前のJuietのやつも赤は数カ所で前置詞と冠詞に関してのみだった（でもJulietちょっとcarelessなところがあって、２ページ冒頭のデリダからのblock quotationのところ、フォントを直したのに直ってなかったなあ）。ついでに自慢すると韓国の英国や米国でPhDをやった連中と英語でやり取りをしてきて、負けていないという感じがしていて、それなら自分が若いときに向こうで学位を取っていたならば、もっとみたいな妄想がしきり。

ただこの講評を見てもわかるのだが、韓国（あるいは台湾のconferenceで発表した経験から台湾も）の英文学者は、理論が文学を読むための道具であるとか暢気に考えていない。理論が政治化のための言説であることを正しく理解している。日本のある種の英文学者のように、理論ばかりでテクストの精読ができていないみたいな鈍感な発言は韓国とか台湾ではないと思う。やはり歴史の違いだろうね。

８０点という講評については確かにという感じ。とくに最後のスピヴァックを導入したあたり、ちょっと雑だったものなあ。N井さん＠国立からは、少々イケイケ路線すぎで、スピヴァックのウイリアムズの用語で言えば「悲劇」が足りないという指摘もあったし。６月３０日になんだか雑誌が出るということなので、web journalなのかもしれない。そうならば、アップされ次第、ここでお知らせして、恥をかきます。
